Solar PV
Generated electricity can be used in place of your normal electricity supplier, but also you can sell energy back into the electricity grid and be paid for each kwh you sell back to the grid. The beauty of this scheme is that you buy electricity from your power company at a much lower rate than the rate rate with which you sell your electricity. The scheme by which you resell your excess electricity is called the FIT (Feed In Tariff) scheme.
Generally you want the highest efficiency panels that you can obtain, since these will convert more light into energy than lower rated panels. Efficiencies are increasing year on year – so developing an understanding of how to make the best from your investment stems from understanding a little about how to best to make the most of your asset: i.e. your roof within your budget.
Many homeowners are attracted by the potential returns which can be in the double digit percentage range. Some returns can range to 15% depending on the install type. Thats why many homeowners are now considering solar energy installations as way of making their money work harder than in the bank account earning paltry rates of interest.
