The telegraph ran a story today about solar panel fitters ripping off consumers in a bid for business. The research was conducted by consumer group Which. Out of 14 solar installers, 10 had over estimated the cost savings on offer. Some had suggested utility savings of up to 50%.
In 2009 the office of fair trading received 1,000 complaints about the solar installation industry.
Is it time for a regulator in this industry. Clearly there could be huge claims in the future as more mis-selling comes to light.
