Rising price of silver is hurting solar

Solar systems use silver for conducting, in their photovoltaic cells. Granted its a small amount of just a few grams per panel, but even this small amount is adding to the cost of producing solar panels. Resulting the price per watt is increasing and is not being offset by efficiencies in silicon technology or processing enhancements.

This is one example where precious metal speculators are having a negative impact on the viability of solar as an investment, albeit a small one.
